The XVII Spanish Meeting on Computational Geometry will be held on June 26th-28th, 2017, at the Faculty of Science, Universidad de Alicante, Alicante, Spain. The main focus of this international conference is on current topics in Discrete and Computational Geometry, including both theoretical and applied results. EGC started in 1990. The intended audience for this conference includes graduate and undergraduate students, researchers in the area or from neighboring disciplines, and members of industry whose work involves geometric algorithms. Topics include, but are not limited to:
geometric algorithms and data structures;
discrete and combinatorial geometry;
theoretical foundations of computational geometry;
questions of interest in the implementation of geometric algorithms and geometric software development;
applications of computational geometry, and closely related areas, such as computer graphics, virtual reality, robotics, computer vision, simulation and visualization, solid modelling, computer aided design and manufacturing, pattern recognition, graph drawing and circuit layout, image processing, geographic information systems, multimedia and animation, wireless communications, computer algebra, computational topology, statistical analysis, operations research, computational biology, etc.
The language of the conference is English, yet occasional submissions/presentations in Spanish may be exceptionally considered.
Nancy Amato, Texas A&M University. Jean Cardinal, Université Libre de Bruxelles. Martin Henk, Technische Universität Berlin.
We invite authors to submit extended abstracts that should not exceed 4 pages of original research. In order to guarantee that submissions are in scope and not below basic standards, there will be a limited review process. An appendix can be added as help for the reviewers and is required when necessary to verify omitted proofs of critical claims. Submission details will be available at the paper submission section on this website.
We remark that XVII ECG will have neither formally reviewed proceedings nor printed abstracts. The abstracts, without ISBN, will be made available on the conference website (appendices excluded), and must be regarded as a collection of preprints rather than a formally reviewed selection of papers.
Papers that have just been submitted to journals or to formally reviewed conferences are eligible for being presented at XVII ECG, assuming that it is allowed by those venues and they have not appeared by the time of the conference. Authors of accepted papers are expected to present their papers at the conference. Failure to do so will result in removal of the contribution everywhere in the website.
Attendants will have to search accommodation by themselves. In the Accomodation section in this website we recommend two university residences, which are very close to the campus, and 2 hotels in Alicante downtown. For all of them special rates have been arranged.. See the Accomodation Section on this webpage.
1) Europa House offers very good prices for students: 27 euros per day (without breakfast) and 29.5 euros per day (including breakfast)
2) Villa Universitaria is very close to the Campus where the Meeting takes place (walking distance) and has very comfortable rooms at a very good price.
3) Hotel Spa Porta Maris is in the Sports Harbour of Alicante, very close to Alicante beach (Playa del Postiguet) and with nice views to the sea. It offers very comfortable rooms. It is more expensive. To go from this hotel to the University you have to walk 15 minutes to the nearest tram stop and then take the tram (30 minutes) to the University.
4) Hotel Abba Centrum in Alicante downtown. It offers very comportable rooms. 80 euros per day breakfast included (single room), 45 euros per day breakfast included (pax in double room)
The number of rooms is limited. The sooner you register, the higher the chance to find a place at the residence of your choice.
