Summary

The Quantitative analysis of electro-encefalogramas (QEEG) is one of the most important technical diagnóstics  in Neuroscience. One of the most important tools for this purpose is the Analysis of Independent Components (ICA), in which it is possible to separate, from the measures realised by a series of electrodes situated in the head, the different cerebral signals that appear like consequence of determinate stimuli. One of the main problems of these technical is the presence of noises of impulsive type, as well as the one to refuse signals no wished (artefacts). For the first of these problems, seems promising the employment of robust technicians like Robust PCA, or any of his variants like Fixed-Rank ADM, that allows descartar the pieces of EEG affected by impulsive noise. The two first sessions of the course are dedicated to introduce the student into the use of the program Matlab.
